The Lagos Third Mainland Bridge is to be shut for four months.
SATURDAY PUNCH gathered that the reason for the impending closure is to enable repair works to be carried out on the bridge.
The closure is to last from July 1 to Nov 6, during which Lagos residents are expected to use alternative routes to the Island.
He stated that although the repairs would be carried out during the rainy season, the work would not be affected.
He said the rains would not necessitate any extension of the four months stipulated time.
“The issue of rain is natural; it would not disturb the work to be carried out on the road. The responsibility of rehabilitating the road is Federal Government’s, but the state wants to pick up the challenge,” he said.
